Okay, then let’s cut out the intro and delve into the Google Pixel 8 Pro review.

Table of Contents

Design & Build Quality

Google Pixel 8 Pro Review: Is it worth buying?

This time the design didn’t change a lot. Overall, it continues with the same design. It’s good to identify the phone easily. If someone sees this phone from a far distance, he can easily notice and say that I am using a Google Pixel series phone, which is good. People are becoming used to this design.
But this time they didn’t carry the same build quality. They changed the build quality of the Pixel 8 Pro. In the back panel, they have used an Aluminum frame, which is good for being lightweight. Also, the matte finish of the back panel makes it easy to hold and gives a premium feel when you hold this phone.
The phone has a round shape, which is good. For that, it gives durability to hold much longer in hand without any kind of issue.
For protection, they have used Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. And also, it has IP68 water and dust resistance. For that, the phone will go up to 1.5M deep in freshwater and stay up to 30 minutes without taking any kind of damage.

Also, the phone is light enough. For 213g weight, I don’t feel any heavy issue in my daily use. When I touch the phone, it gives me a premium feel, and I can keep this phone for a long time in my hand without any issue. It’s also easy to carry without any kind of trouble.

Display

Google Pixel 8 Pro Review: Is it worth buying?

Google Pixel 8 Pro’s display is good enough. They used a flat display. The display size is 6.7 inches, with a resolution of 1344×2992 pixels, a 20:9 ratio, and 120Hz. It can reach up to 2400 nits (peak) brightness. Also, it supports HDR10+ and has an LTPO OLED panel display.

In my daily use, I get good brightness indoors and outdoors. While using the phone for video streaming or social media scrolling, the brightness and color were totally good. In outdoor use, with its 2400 nits (peak) brightness, I can easily see and use it without any trouble under the sun.

Also, the display protection is good enough, as it uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. For that, you will be safe if you accidentally drop it from a height of up to 1-2 meters. You will also get a scratch-free user experience. While I was using this phone, I didn’t do a drop test, but I had a scratch-free user experience.

This time, the fingerprint position is set in the perfect place. Though the position is perfect, it didn’t respond quickly. As before, in the last series, the fingerprint touch response is slow. But it’s not the worst at all. It’s good enough for daily use. I can say it’s not the worst; rather, it’s usable.

Hardware & Performance

Google Pixel 8 Pro Review: Is it worth buying?

This time, Google used their new Tensor G3 chipset for the hardware. Though it is a new chipset, it didn’t do well in the performance section. It provides 12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage, which is good, but in my opinion, it would be better if they used UFS 4.0 storage.

Let’s talk about its performance. In my daily use, the performance is not bad. From regular use to multitasking, the phone handled it smoothly.

In gaming, it didn’t satisfy me at all. As a flagship phone, the gaming experience should be much better. But it didn’t even match a $350–$400 phone. The value you’re giving is not worthy in gaming from my side. If you want a good gaming experience, then it will not be worth it. But most users don’t buy Pixel phones for gaming. If you are not looking for the best gaming experience, then you can go with it.

Heating issue! This time, the heating issue was not solved. From regular use to heavy use, I faced heating problems. If I turn on the screen and keep it, the phone gets hot. Also, while using the camera, the phone gets hot. Even in daily use, I faced a heating issue.

But it didn’t perform badly in neural processing. If you look for a standout feature of this phone, it will be its neural processing. For example, voice-to-text. If you say something, the phone will recognize it and convert it to text faster than any flagship phone, which is a positive thing about this phone.

Camera

Google Pixel 8 Pro Review: Is it worth buying?

Most Pixel users buy a Pixel phone for its better camera performance. This time, they are providing a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 48 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and 30x Super Res Zoom. For selfies, it has a 10.5 MP camera.

Zoom

The photos of the Google Pixel 8 Pro are nice and decent. The color, contrast, and sharpness are good enough to win a Pixel user’s heart. As already mentioned before, most Pixel lovers only buy this phone for its best picture quality. Also, it has many kinds of camera features in the camera section. You won’t find it worth it until you have used all the camera features.

For video recording, with the main camera, you can do 4K video recording at 30/60 fps. With the ultra-wide and selfie cameras, it provides 4K video recording at 30 fps, which is good.

It does not end with video recording; it also has interesting features. After recording a video, you can easily clear the video noise, music, and voice separately. The best part is you don’t need any kind of software or tools to edit. This will be most helpful for content creators and bloggers.

Software & UI

The most interesting thing about this phone is its software, which sets it apart from other Android phones. This time, they have added new features and software to this phone, such as Google Assistant, the Recorder app, live translation, and more upcoming features.

They are also providing 7 years of Android updates, which is interesting. Because of this, it has a chance to receive the Android 15 update as well.

This time, the phone is running with the latest Android features, Android 14. And with 7 years of Android updates, I can also get the latest Android updates, as mentioned before.

AI Features

This time, the AI features are at a top-notch level. They have added many new AI features that are very useful and interesting.

Some features include Magic Erase. If you take a photo and want to remove some unnecessary objects from it, you can simply erase that object or any kind of object. There’s also the Face Unblur feature. If you take a photo and notice that the face is blurred, you can use Face Unblur to clear the blur from the picture. Another feature is Best Take. When we take group photos, we often don’t get everyone’s attention or a good pose in the photo. By using Best Take, you can easily modify the photo to get everyone’s attention and the best pose by combining other group photos. Magic Editor allows you to change your subject’s position and even make the subject smaller or larger. It also has live voice-to-text, which was already mentioned before.

Battery Life & Charging

The battery capacity of this phone is 5050 mAh, which is good and only updated by 50 mAh from the last series. But the battery backup is not satisfying. On average, it offers 6-7 hours of screen-on time in daily use, which will be even lower in heavy use. In my daily use, I get the same kind of battery backup, which I would say is usable.

This time, they are providing 30W fast wired charging and 23W wireless charging. It takes up to 1.30–2 hours to fully charge, which is good and expected in a flagship phone.

Verdict

Google Pixel 8 Pro. The value we are providing and what we are getting is not satisfactory, from my opinion. But the phone is totally not the worst for the money. In some features, it didn’t fulfill my expectations, and in some features, it did.

Who should buy this? If you’re a person who is not interested in gaming and wants the best camera phone with many kinds of features and wants to experience unique software and AI features, then definitely this phone is worth it for you.

Overall, this phone is not the worst for the money. It will provide many unique features that you will not find in any other flagship phone.

And here, my Google Pixel 8 Pro review ends. Let me know if you want to make it your daily use or not.
